Introduction
The artwork for your order that you submit to woodencoin.com is used to print the ink onto the coins.
Depending on the format the artwork has been submitted in, woodencoin.com does perform some computer
processes on the artwork to make the artwork printable.
- Artwork (graphics, text) needs to fit on the coin that is 1 ¾ inches (4.4 cm) in
diameter.
- For graphics files attached to an email, the accepted formats are: bmp, pdf, jpg, tif. If you
want to submit a file in a different format, please call and ask.
- Artwork files can be sent as an attachment to an email and sent to
woodencoin.com
or be sent as hard copy (paper) via standard post. The postal mail address can be found
here. Hard copy artwork must be suitable for scanning.
- Artwork processes better if it is done as a black and white image. Since multi-colour printing
is not available,
extra colours in the artwork may not produce expected results.
- If you are submitting the artwork as a PDF file, fonts should be embedded in the file. Your
software may also provide the option to convert text to curves. This is recommended also.
Simple example for someone who is not a Graphic Artist
For those of you that have the graphics artwork on their computer (PC) as a displayable image but do not
know how to use sophisticated graphics programs to export the artwork in one of the accepted file formats,
there is a simple way to get the artwork to woodencoin.com. The following describes how you can do that
on a standard PC compatible computer. Note that MS Windows XP is the PC's operating system in this
example.
1) Display your artwork on the computer screen using a program that you are comfortable with. If
possible, zoom into the image so that it takes up a large portion of your display screen. See Fig1 for
an example. Zooming in is required so that a high enough resolution image will be captured for
woodencoin.com to be able to derive coin print information.

2)Next, do what is known as a screen capture. This is done by pressing the "Print Screen" (aka
"PrtScn", or "Print Scrn") button on the upper right area of your keyboard. An image that is a copy
of your computer screen is sent to the computer's clip board.
3) MS Windows comes with a simple image editing program called Paint. You will use this program to load
the screen capture and then save the image as a jpg file. To open the Paint program, click your mouse
on the Start button at the lower left corner of your computer screen to open up the Start window.
Click on the item "All Programs" to open up a menu of programs. Click on the menu item "Accessories"
to open up another menu of programs. Click on the menu item "Paint". This will start the program
"Paint".
4) In the Paint program, click on the top menu item Edit and select Paste. This should cause a picture
of the computer screen you just captured to appear in the window of the Paint program.
5) To save the screen capture image to a file, click on the Paint programs top menu item File and
select Save As. In the dialog box that opens, select "jpg" from the list of file types in the "Save as
type" edit box. You may want to pay attention to where the file is going to be saved as you will email
that file to woodencoin.com. You may want to change the name of the file you are about to save. Click
on the "Save" button.
6) Email the file to woodencoin.com (email address: info@woodencoin.com). Please provide some
information in the email so that woodencoin.com knows who the coin will be for, and any other
info that is relevant to your order.
